Apple to Skip M4 Chip Mac Release in WWDC 2024

TapTechNews June 3rd, although Apple has launched the iPad Pro with the first M4 chip last month, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg revealed in a recent newsletter that Apple will not introduce any M4-chip-equipped Mac computers in the upcoming WWDC 2024 developers conference.

According to TapTechNews' previous reports, Apple's M4 chip is claimed to be specifically designed for AI computing. This chip is built based on the second-generation 3nm process and integrates a total of 28 billion transistors, featuring a brand new display engine and adopting a 4 big cores + 6 small cores CPU. In the March press conference, Apple stated that this chip 'brings dynamic cache, hardware-accelerated ray tracing and hardware-accelerated mesh shading functions to the iPad for the first time'.

Currently, Apple's Mac only comes with M3/Pro/Max chips. Although Gurman previously revealed that Apple will update the M4/Pro/Max series chips for the MacBookPro in October this year and the M4Pro/Max chips for the MacPro/Studio in the middle of next year, it is somewhat unexpected that the company chose not to launch the 'AI-enabled' M4 new product in WWDC2024, especially since this developers conference is said to 'feature artificial intelligence'.
