Although users can temporarily switch back to the Mail and Calendar application, it will be recommended to use the new Outlook again next time.

In March this year, Microsoft has already reminded users who are still using the Mail & Calendar application to upgrade to the new Outlook. In the support documentation updated in June this year, Microsoft said that in order to improve security, the Mail and Calendar application will be phased out by the end of this year.

The content of Microsoft's support documentation is as follows:

We launched the new Outlook for Windows application last year, providing Outlook for free to everyone on Windows.

Since its launch, millions of people have used the new Outlook for Windows, reaching the same consumer usage rate as the classic Outlook for Windows application in a shorter time.

Most users of Mail and Calendar have migrated to the new Outlook for Windows.

With the continuous change of the cyber threat situation and our commitment to providing customers with the safest email experience, we remind everyone that by the end of 2024, the Mail and Calendar application will no longer be in a supported state and will also be removed from the Microsoft Store.

No matter what electronic service users use, the new Outlook for Windows can meet your needs.

Using the new Outlook for Windows does not require a subscription to a personal email account, and it also provides a variety of functions that Mail and Calendar does not have, such as rich email editing functions, functions using Copilot, and functions to remind you of important conversations.

The new Outlook for Windows also supports modern authentication. We will also develop new functions in the next few months to improve the spam filtering function to help users better protect themselves from malicious emails.
