As the only direct road connection channel between the Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou and Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen city clusters, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is the key horizontal line of the A-shaped transportation network skeleton at the Pearl River Estuary. After the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the driving time between Shenzhen and Zhongshan is reduced from two hours to less than half an hour. In the future, it will only take 15 minutes from Guangzhou Nansha to Zhongshan, and the driving time from Zhuhai and Jiangmen to Shenzhen is reduced from more than 2 hours to less than 1 hour, creating a new pattern for the transportation development of the Greater Bay Area.

IT Home found out that the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has gone through 7 years of construction, including the world's largest cross-span all-offshore steel box girder suspension bridge with a main span of 1,666 meters, and the world's first two-way eight-lane steel shell concrete immersed tube tunnel with a length of 6.8 kilometers. It is one of the current跨海集群工程 with the highest comprehensive construction difficulty in the world and is known as the undersea Great Wall.
