The Growth of Automotive Semiconductor Market Driven by ADAS, EVs and Connections

TapTechNews August 7th news, IDC Consulting released a research report at noon today, pointing out that with the popularity of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Connected Vehicles (Connections), the demand for semiconductors such as high-performance computing chips, image processing units, radar chips and lidar sensors is increasing day by day, bringing new growth opportunities for the automotive semiconductor industry.

IDC expects that by 2027, the global automotive semiconductor market size will exceed 88 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 629.576 billion Chinese yuan). With the continuous growth of the value of single-vehicle semiconductors, the attention and importance of semiconductor enterprises in the automotive industry chain have further increased.

The report points out that leading semiconductor companies (such as Infineon, NXP, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, Renesas Electronics) are investing heavily in developing next-generation microcontrollers, system-on-chips and high-resolution radars and other solutions, continuously enhancing ADAS, autonomous driving systems, cockpits and connected functions, integrating complex electronic control units and sensor fusion technologies to meet the greater, higher-performance and higher-security requirements of automobiles for semiconductors.

Guo Junli, research director of IDC Asia-Pacific region, said that these leading semiconductor enterprises have common advantages - strong R & D investment, technological leadership, comprehensive product portfolio, close and stable strategic partnerships, efficient global operations and safe and reliable product performance, and enable them to maintain a competitive advantage in the market.
