China Mobile's Drone Coffee Delivery Test Flight in Chengdu

TapTechNews on May 29th, China Mobile announced that the first successful test flight of drone coffee delivery jointly created by China Mobile and Chengdu Tianfu New Area Investment Group.

TapTechNews learned from Chengdu Tiantóu that the flight speed of this logistics drone is 15 meters per second, that is, it can reach 900 meters per minute, and can carry less than 4.5 kilograms. The regular 10-minute single-trip logistics delivery can be completed. Currently, the drone delivery route plan of Chengdu Science and Technology Innovation Ecological Island is from Hall 1 to W7, and will later cover the whole island and the surrounding hot spots of Xinglong Lake.

Unlike other drones, the logistics drone is operated by the background and does not require a professional pilot. The staff only needs to load the coffee, and then take off directly in the system to notify the background to carry out the delivery task according to the designed route. This is also the first test flight of the 5G networked transport drone on the Science and Technology Innovation Ecological Island after the Chengdu World Horticultural Exposition.

China Mobile said that relying on the 5G networked unmanned aircraft management and operation platform (Zhongyi Lingyun) independently developed by China Mobile (Chengdu) Institute of Industry Research, it can realize real-time data collection, real-time transmission, intelligent processing, etc. in the park, support beyond visual range control, and automatically generate operation reports after each flight, and can be shared with staff for on-site reexamination and problem repair.
