Weibo Updates Forwarding Word Count Limit and Function Merging

TapTechNews June 14th news, Weibo has supported the posting of more than 140 characters since 2016. Currently, a regular Weibo can post up to 5000 Chinese characters, and if it exceeds 5000 characters, it can also be posted in the form of a headline article, but the forwarding word count has always been limited to 140 characters.

Weibo officials announced today that the upper limit of the forwarding word count has been expanded to 500 words, but the upper limit of the comment word count is still 140 words. Weibo also mentioned that this function will be opened in batches, and VVIP and SVIP users can experience it first, and it will be gradually opened according to the actual usage situation (TapTechNews note: the Weibo client needs to be upgraded to version 14.6.0 and above).

In addition, Weibo also announced that the 'quick forward' function is merged with the unconditional forwarding. Before this, when users forwarded an original Weibo without writing a forwarding reason text and directly publishing, the default 'forward Weibo' four characters would be inserted.

After the function adjustment, the default text of 'forward Weibo' will be displayed after the user's nickname in the information flow and will no longer occupy the text space of the forwarded Weibo. It is consistent with the style of the 'quick forward' Weibo. At the same time, the 'quick forward' function entrance will no longer be displayed when clicking the forwarding button, and users can achieve the effect of 'quick forward' through unconditional forwarding.
