Framework Laptop 16 CAD Design Files Open Sourced

On June 14th, IT Home reported that the Framework Laptop 16 modular notebook was released last year, featuring DIY design and allowing for selectable bezel colors, power adapters, and various interface expansion cards.

In order to facilitate open-source hardware enthusiasts and accessory manufacturers, Framework Computer announces to open-source the CAD design files of the Framework Laptop 16.

According to the GitHub open-source page accessed by IT Home, this project mainly contains 3D CAD for the motherboard, input module, expansion bay, expansion card, and camera and other components of the notebook, which can be used to develop 3D printed replacement parts, cases, and other accessories.

The Framework Laptop 16 modular notebook offers optional R7 7840HS + RX 7700S processors and uses a semi-customized screen from BOE, featuring a resolution of 2560 x 1600, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 165 Hz variable refresh rate, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 500 nits of brightness, and the display module can also be replaced by oneself.

In terms of price, the DIY version of the Framework Laptop 16 without a system costs 1399 US dollars (currently about 10151 Chinese yuan).
