Global OLED Tablet Panel Market Update

TapTechNews on June 19. A report was released by the screen supply chain consulting firm DSCC on June 17, indicating that the global shipments of OLED tablet panels in the first quarter of 2024 were 1.72 million units, a year-on-year increase of 131% and a record high.

As the price gap with LCD narrows, the share of OLED tablets is expected to continue to expand in 2028 and beyond. With more and more brands launching more OLED tablets, it is expected that by 2028, the unit share of OLED tablets will reach 16% and the revenue share will reach 55%.

Report of the First Quarter of 2024

In the OLED flat-panel purchases in the first quarter of 2024, TapTechNews learned from the report that due to Apple's launch of two OLED iPad Pro products in May, Apple accounted for a 47% share, followed by Huawei and Samsung with 25% and 17% respectively.

There were 15 OLED tablets in the first quarter of 2024, higher than the 13 in the fourth quarter of 2023. The purchase share of the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro was the highest at 35%, followed by the 11.1-inch M4 iPad Pro at 12.5%, and the MatePad Pro 11 accounting for 11%.

Estimation for the Second Quarter of 2024

DSCC estimates that the second quarter of 2024 will become the peak quarter of procurement this year, and the purchase volume of OLED flat-panel will exceed 3.9 million units, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of 127% and a year-on-year increase of 333%. Apple's production is expected to increase by 246% quarter-on-quarter, and Huawei, Microsoft, and Samsung will also achieve growth.

Apple's share is expected to jump to 72%, and Huawei will rank second with a 13% share. In terms of products, 13" M4 iPad Pro is expected to lead for the second consecutive quarter, with a share of 38%, followed by 11.1" iPad Pro with a share of 34%, and the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2" ranks third with a share of 5%.
