TapTechNews July 17th news, Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 update has been previously released, but currently only available for Copilot+ laptops with Snapdragon XElite processors. Judging from Microsoft's wording, the time point of later this year is rather vague, it is generally believed that it will be at least August, or even may be postponed to the fourth quarter. This indicates that Microsoft has focused most of its development resources on the ARM version of Windows 11 24H2 to coincide with the listing of Copilot+ computers. Currently, only Copilot+ computers support the 24H2 version and exclusively have a series of AI functions including the Recall function.

For x86 users eager to experience 24H2, they can join the Canary or Dev channels of the Windows Insider program, but these two channels are test versions with poor system stability, and the Beta and ReleasePreview channels are still based on the previous 23H2 version.

In addition to AI functions, the other new additions in the 24H2 update are relatively limited, mainly focusing on enhancing the user experience, including Wi-Fi 7 support, 7-Zip and TAR support in the file manager, sudo command support in the command line, and the redesigned Copilot interface. In addition, Microsoft has also launched a checkpoint cumulative update to speed up the update download and installation speed.

TapTechNews noted that PhoneLink will also迎来 a major update and be directly integrated into the Start menu, but it is not yet clear whether it will be launched along with the 24H2 update.

In general, since most AI functions are limited to Copilot+ computers, therefore, a few months' delay in the 24H2 update has a relatively limited impact on ordinary Windows 11 users.
