TapTechNews July 17, the automotive media electrek released a blog post yesterday (July 16), indicating that Genesis is brewing a new electric vehicle platform to enhance its competitiveness and challenge other brands such as Tesla and BMW.
It is reported that the electric vehicle platform built by Genesis will be separated from the existing Hyundai and will be deployed on the new GV60, electric version of GV70 and electric version of G80 models in the future.
Genesis plans to upgrade the GV60 car in 2025 with a larger battery and new design elements. The 2025 GV60 car still uses Hyundai's E-GMP platform and is also the last model of the Genesis brand to use Hyundai's E-GMP platform.
TapTechNews quoted the media report that after the 2025 GV60 car, all subsequent new models of Genesis will be based on the new platform, but the official has not disclosed more details for now.
