Microsoft Introduces New Benefits for Microsoft 365 Subscribers to Detect Unsafe Wi-Fi Networks

TapTechNews October 1st, according to the report of the tech media bleepingcomputer yesterday (September 30th), Microsoft has introduced new benefits for Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscribers, which can automatically detect unsafe Wi-Fi networks and pop up relevant notifications if users try to connect.

TapTechNews note: After users connect to public Wi-Fi or untrusted networks, it may lead to the exposure/theft of relevant data and identity information. Microsoft hopes to curb this situation through the Defender privacy protection function.

Microsoft Defender will encrypt and route your Internet traffic through Microsoft's servers and use a virtual private network to hide the user's Internet address (IP address).

Microsoft announces the upgrade of the Defender privacy protection function, automatically reminding users after detecting a suspicious network, and can now be configured to be automatically enabled to improve security.

Microsoft said: We have added the detection of unsafe Wi-Fi (suspicious Wi-Fi). These detections are achieved through the use of Defender heuristic analysis, which examines multiple features of the Wi-Fi hotspot to determine if it is suspicious.

If not a Microsoft Defender user, you can protect yourself by enabling multi-factor authentication and disabling automatic Wi-Fi connection.
