Maglev trains, also known as magnetic levitation trains, are a type of ground-based non-contact rail transportation vehicle without wheels. It suspends the train above the track through electromagnetic force, with high technological content and fast operating speed, often referred to as a 'ground-based aircraft'.

Speaking of the advantages of maglev trains, Tang Lin, chairman of Sichuan Development Maglev Technology Co., Ltd., said that this technology avoids mechanical friction, significantly reduces vehicle operation noise, and does not cause environmental pollution such as metal dust; in addition, the 'embedded structure eliminates the risk of derailment and is more resistant to adverse weather conditions such as typhoons, rain, and snow'.

It is reported that Chinese companies have completed the localization research and development of core components of the maglev system, with a localization rate of 93%, independently owning 54 related national authorized patents, and jointly formulating the 'Embedded Maglev Transportation System Design Standard' and other recommended local standards for engineering construction in Sichuan Province.

TapTechNews found that by the end of 2023, 59 cities in mainland China had implemented urban rail transit, with a cumulative operating mileage of 11232.65 kilometers; in the same year, 884.55 kilometers of new urban rail transit operating lines were added.
