Astronomers Discover 'Super Fluffy' Exoplanet WASP-193b

On May 16th, TapTechNews reported that astronomers have discovered a 'super fluffy' exoplanet called WASP-193b, located approximately 1200 light-years away from Earth. Its density is similar to that of cotton candy, making it the second brightest planet observed by humans to date.

WASP-193b is about 50% larger than the nearby gas giant Jupiter, but its mass is only 0.14 times that of Jupiter based on calculations. The estimated density is about 0.059 grams per cubic centimeter. In comparison, Jupiter has a density of about 1.33 grams per cubic centimeter, while Earth's density is 5.51 grams per cubic centimeter.

Astronomers state that the density of this planet is akin to cotton candy (TapTechNews note: approximately 0.05 grams per cubic centimeter).

WASP-193b is classified as a puffy gas giant planet, and it is the second brightest planet discovered so far, following Kepler51d, which is similar to Neptune. With over 5400 planets discovered by humans, WASP-193b is definitely considered an 'odd one out'.
