Apple's current MacBook Pro products use mini-LED technology. The screen requires a backplane to emit light. After switching to an OLED panel, each pixel is independent and does not need to use a backplane, so the thickness can be reduced.

Apple launched its thinnest product ever (about 0.2 inches) last month - the 2024 13-inch iPad Pro.

Gurman also revealed that Apple is now focusing on developing a thinner phone for the iPhone 17 series in 2025, which will be much thinner than the current iPhone design. In addition, Apple is developing a thinner new version of MacBook Pro and iPad Pro than the current generation design.
