Tencent Becomes 2024 Paris Olympics Rights-Holding Broadcaster
TapTechNews June 19th news, China Central Television and Tencent have reached a cooperation intention on the video on-demand and short-video copyright of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Tencent will become the rights-holding broadcaster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Users can watch the on-demand and short-video content of this Olympic event through channels such as Tencent Video, Tencent Sports, WeChat, Tencent News, Tencent.com, QQ, QQ Browser, and Weishi, as well as Tencent's self-produced programs.
It is introduced that in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Tencent obtained the Internet live broadcasting authorization for the first time; in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Tencent obtained the online broadcasting rights in the Chinese mainland; in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Tencent became the rights-holding broadcaster.
TapTechNews learned that China Central Television released a copyright statement about the 2024 Paris Olympics on April 17 this year. According to the agreement signed between China Central Television and the International Olympic Committee, the station has the exclusive all-media rights and sublicensing rights of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Chinese mainland and Macau regions.
Kuaishou, Douyin, and China Mobile Migu have also recently announced that they have reached a copyright cooperation with China Central Television for the 2024 Paris Olympics and become the rights-holding broadcasters of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
