'Angry Birds 3' Movie in the Making

TapTechNews June 7th news, Rovio, Sega and Prime Focus Studios announced in a press release today that the 'Angry Birds 3' movie is in the making and collaborating with the animation company DNEG Animation. In addition, Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad, who respectively voiced Red and Chuck in the first two movies, will be returning.

John Rice will return to direct 'Angry Birds 3'. He has co-directed 'Angry Birds 2' and served as the lead storyboard artist for the first movie. Also, Thurop Van Orman, the director of 'Angry Birds 2', will return to write the script.

Rovio said that the total global box office receipts of the first two 'Angry Birds' movies exceeded 500 million US dollars (about 3.625 billion yuan as of now, TapTechNews note), and have achieved excellent results on the streaming media platform, indicating a strong demand for the third theater release.

The 'Angry Birds' movie series is adapted from the popular mobile game of the same name. The official has not yet announced the release date of 'Angry Birds 3'. It is worth noting that when the first two movies were released, Rovio was not owned by Sega, and the movies were distributed by Sony Pictures. Sega completed the acquisition of Rovio last year at a price of 706 million euros (about 5.571 billion yuan as of now), and the cooperation with Sony Pictures is not mentioned in this announcement.
