Tencent's Products Undergoing Hongmeng System Adaptation; Possible Agreement with Huawei

TapTechNews June 21 news, people close to Tencent told Yicai that a number of products including WeChat are conducting development adaptation and technical communication work for the Hongmeng system.

It is said that in addition to Tencent Video, Tencent News, QQ Browser, Sogou Input Method, Tencent Selected Stocks, QQ Music, Kugou Music, Kuwo Music, National K Song, Lazy Listening Book, and Qidian Reading, which have already publicly appeared at the Huawei Developer Conference, a number of Tencent's products are already in the process of development adaptation for the Hongmeng system, hoping to ensure that users can transition smoothly, securely, and stably to the new system as soon as possible.

On June 19, Bloomberg also reported that Huawei is about to reach an agreement with Tencent to allow WeChat to run on the Hongmeng system without charging app-in-app revenue sharing.

According to people familiar with the matter, after months of negotiations, the two sides are close to reaching an agreement. Huawei will agree not to charge any fees for in-app transactions in WeChat. People familiar with the matter also said that in exchange, Tencent will continue to maintain and update the WeChat app.
