China's Express Delivery Volume Hits Record High in First Half of 2024

According to TapTechNews on July 1, data monitored by the State Post Bureau shows that as of June 30, in the first half of this year, China's express delivery business volume exceeded 80 billion pieces, which was 59 days earlier than reaching 80 billion pieces in 2023.

Since this year, China's express delivery has an average monthly business volume of more than 13 billion pieces, and the daily average business volume of express delivery in June exceeded 500 million pieces. The State Post Bureau stated that since the launch of large-scale equipment renewal and the action of replacing old consumer goods with new ones, express delivery enterprises have seized a new round of development opportunities, accelerated the elimination of old sorting and security inspection equipment, increased the application ratio of new energy vehicles, strengthened the application of modern information technologies such as big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain, and promoted the intelligent and low-carbon upgrading of equipment.

Previous data from the State Post Bureau shows that in 2023, the postal industry's delivery business volume completed 162.48 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%. Among them, the express delivery business volume completed 132.07 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 19.4%.

Looking back at last year, China's express delivery business volume reached 600 million pieces on June 24, 2023, which was 172 days earlier than reaching 600 million pieces in 2019 and 34 days earlier than in 2022.

In addition, according to a previous report by TapTechNews, from January to April this year, the cumulative delivery business volume of the postal industry completed 56.95 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 21.7%; the cumulative express delivery business volume completed 50.81 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%.
