Cybercriminals Attacked Data Systems of About 40 French Museums During Olympics

TapTechNews August 7th news, according to Le Parisien, cybercriminals attacked the data systems of about 40 French museums during the Olympic Games.

Cybercriminals used ransomware, which encrypts data and makes the data of computers, servers, or the networks of enterprises or local governments unreadable, and the criminals demanded ransom for this.

This attack was discovered by a security expert at the Grand Palais Museum. TapTechNews noted that the museum holds fencing, martial arts and other competitions of the Paris Olympic Games, and the relevant departments are investigating this case.

After the attack, access to the Grand Palais server was interrupted, and the operation of the museum itself was not affected. Related museums such as the Louvre, Versailles Palace, Orsay Museum and Picasso Museum were also affected.

The French National Information System Security Agency said that the cyberattack has no impact on the currently held Olympic Games and the subsequent Paralympic Games.
