When interviewed by YouTuber Kane Sutter (online name Kallaway), Zuckerberg revealed this news. He said, Everyone who has experienced the prototype of this glasses so far is very excited (giddy), and I can't wait to let more people see it.

According to the previous report of BusinessInsider, Meta is likely to showcase its first true AR glasses (internal code-named Orion) at the MetaConnect conference held this autumn. This glasses is not expected to go on sale in the short term, but showing this cutting-edge technology will be beneficial to enhancing Meta's continuous investment in this field.

Zuckerberg said, We focus on creating a complete version for consumers, not selling prototype products. He disclosed that the prototype product is not the most fashionable, and to accommodate AR technology, the glasses frame may be relatively thick. But he also emphasized that this is still a genuine glasses, rather than a head-mounted device like Meta's Quest or Apple's VisionPro.

TapTechNews noted that last year, Andrew Bosworth, the chief technology officer of Meta and the head of the RealityLabs department, once said that the upcoming AR glasses may be the most advanced technology product in its field globally.

Zuckerberg also mentioned that due to the higher-than-expected demand for the Meta Ray-Ban glasses with cameras and integrated artificial intelligence but no display, the company has been committed to integrating more AR technology while maintaining the best form of modern glasses. He said, I used to think that holographic display is necessary to achieve the sense of presence. But artificial intelligence has made such a huge leap that I think some simpler products may gain market popularity more quickly.

For many years, Meta has been investing heavily in its RealityLabs department, which is responsible for building a series of cutting-edge products including VR and AR wearable devices and the underlying software of the metaverse. Zuckerberg has also emphasized that it will take several years for these products to generate considerable returns.
