Hon Hai Wins Exclusive NVLink Switch Order for GB200 AI Servers

TapTechNews June 18, according to Taiwanese media Economic Daily, after Hon Hai obtained a large share of Nvidia's GB200 AI server foundry orders, it exclusively won the order of GB200 key component NVLink switch.

NVLink is Nvidia's exclusive technology, including two parts. The first is the bridge technology, that is, the technology for the connection between the processor (CPU) and the AI chip (GPU); the second is the switch technology, which is the key to the interconnection between the GPU and the GPU. Only through this technology can the computing power of thousands of GPUs be concentrated and operate.

GB200 not only greatly improves the computing power but also takes into account the speed of high-speed transmission, and NVLink is the key among them. The report said that Hon Hai's exclusive access to Nvidia's NVLink foundry order this time is mainly because Hon Hai has cooperated with Nvidia for many years and Hon Hai has long been the leading foundry for network communication equipment.

Supply chain sources said that one server cabinet requires seven NVLink, which means that no matter how many GB200 server cabinets Nvidia ships, the order quantity of NVLink switches obtained by Hon Hai is seven times. Due to the higher profit of the switch than that of server assembly, Hon Hai's future revenue is expected to hit a new high.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, due to the unexpected demand for AI, Hon Hai's sales in May was NT$550.16 billion (about 123.392 billion yuan at present), an increase of 22.1% year-on-year.

Among the world's top seven switch manufacturers, such as Dell, HP, Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson, etc., are all Hon Hai's customers, making Hon Hai's market share in the global switch market exceed 75%.

For AI servers, Liu Yangwei, chairman of Hon Hai, previously disclosed that GB200 is in short supply, and it is expected that Hon Hai's market share of AI servers will reach 40% this year.
