Google Improves USB-C Display Output Feature on Pixel 9 Series

TapTechNews August 22nd news, Google introduced USB-C display output support for the Pixel 8 series through the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 update earlier this year. This feature was widely launched in the June feature update, allowing users to mirror the phone screen to an external monitor. However, there were some issues with the feature at that time.

According to AndroidAuthority, on the Pixel 9 series, Google has improved this feature. The new model natively supports USB-C display output, and users can use this function without any dedicated hardware. Just use a USB-C hub with an HDMI port to connect the Pixel 9 to an external monitor. If your monitor supports USB-C input, you can directly use a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect the phone to the monitor.

After connecting the Pixel 9 to an external monitor, a pop-up window of 'Mirror to external display?' will appear on the phone, and select the 'Mirror display' button to immediately mirror the phone screen to the connected monitor. This function can operate normally on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

TapTechNews noticed that although USB-C display output currently only supports screen mirroring, Android 15 may enhance this function. Google is developing an enhanced desktop mode, and USB-C display output support is a key function for this mode to operate normally.
