TapTechNews summarizes the case process as follows:

In June this year, when the police officers of the Investigation Center of the North Branch of the Qingdao Municipal Public Security Bureau were patrolling the network, they found that an online store was selling a number of products with cameras and capable of recording and videoing, suspected of illegal sales of special equipment for eavesdropping and secret photography.

The police officers analyzed the sales data of this e-commerce to find the people in Qingdao local area who had purchased the equipment through this e-commerce, and then seized the relevant equipment.

From the appearance, the eavesdropping equipment seized by the police this time is just a power bank marked with voltage and capacity and with relevant logos. But after opening it, it was identified by the relevant departments that this power bank is actually a special equipment for eavesdropping and secret photography, if purchased by people with ulterior motives, it will often be used for illegal and criminal activities.

The police found from the purchaser's purchase order that the above equipment was sent from an industrial park in Bao'an District, Shenzhen, and the involved enterprise specialized in subcontracting and assembling electronic equipment. The boss of the enterprise, Zeng, admitted that the eavesdropping and secret photography equipment disguised as a power bank was commissioned by a customer named Yang Jing to produce, but he chose to knowingly violate the law in order to earn the subcontracting fee of more than 3 yuan per piece.

According to Zeng's disclosure, Yang Jing provided him with drawings and parts, and then the enterprise assembled and processed, and Yang Jing was in charge of sales.

The police then seized more than 300 eavesdropping and secret photography devices at the Shenzhen Longgang courier point. After the investigation by the task force police officers, Yang Jing is the organizer of this criminal activity of manufacturing and selling eavesdropping and secret photography equipment.

In April this year, Yang Jing entrusted someone to design the circuit board of the eavesdropping and secret photography equipment, and purchased parts such as cameras and power bank lithium batteries, and then found a factory to specially process and assemble.

Each piece of the hidden camera equipment disguised as a power bank costs about 40 US dollars, and Yang Jing sells each piece to 600 to 1200 US dollars, with a profit margin as high as 15 to 30 times, and earned more than 2 million US dollars in just 3 short months.

It is found that in just 3 short months, the criminal g ang has produced more than 3000 pieces of special equipment for eavesdropping and secret photography and sold them to various places.

At present, 7 criminal suspects including Yang Jing and Zeng have been legally taken criminal coercive measures by the police, and the case is still being deeply explored and expanded.
