AMD to Skip 700 Series, Adopt 800 Series for Next-Gen Desktop Motherboard

TapTechNews May 28th, Taiwan media BenchLife.info recently stated that AMD will skip the 700 series in the naming of the next-generation desktop motherboard and adopt the same 800 series as the motherboard of Intel's LGA1851 platform.

The AMD 800 series motherboards of various major manufacturers will be presented together with the Ryzen 9000 series processors of the Zen5 architecture at the COMPUTEX 2024 in early June.

This information was disclosed in the quick look report of the Gigabyte B650E AORUS PRO X USB4 motherboard by the Taiwan media. The Taiwan media stated in the article that this motherboard has the same new features as most AMD X870 motherboards.

Currently, the Gigabyte B650E AORUS PRO X USB4 motherboard has not been officially launched on the official website, and TapTechNews cannot fully understand the specific parameters of this motherboard.

According to the Taiwan media report, this motherboard is equipped with a MediaTek MT7927 Wi-Fi 7 wireless network card and provides 2 USB 4 interfaces through the ASMedia ASM4242 chip.

In fact, this is not the first time that AMD has adopted a similar or even higher generation number in motherboard products compared to Intel.

AMD's first batch of motherboards on the AM4 platform, which was released in the third quarter of 2016, was named the 300 series, which was earlier than Intel's 200 series motherboards in terms of time.
