HMD XR21 Rugged Phone A Rebranded Version of Nokia XR21 with Extra Updates

TapTechNews May 19th news, the HMD XR21 rugged phone was officially released on May 15th. It is a rebranded version of the Nokia XR21 phone that went on the market last year, made in Europe, with three years of major Android software version updates, and the price is 599.99 euros (TapTechNews note: currently about 4686 yuan).

A few days ago, blogger HikariCalyx posted on the X platform and found that the HMD XR21 is completely the same as the Nokia XR21 phone in terms of specifications, only the software-level identifier is different. Users only need to change the SKUID of their Nokia XR21 phone to 1HMWW, and they can transform their Nokia XR21 phone into an HMD XR21 phone at the software level.

Referring to the Android system update roadmap of HMDGlobal's own brand and Nokia smartphones, the Nokia XR21 phone was released in June 2023, and this phone also has three years of major Android software version updates (factory-installed as Android 12 and can be updated to Android 13, and currently Android 14 has not been pushed yet). Therefore, if users modify their Nokia XR21 phone to an HMD XR21 phone, it is expected to get an additional year of Android software update (HMD XR21 is factory-installed as Android 13 and can be updated to Android 14/15).
