Apple Adds Real-Time Video Feature in iOS18 for Emergency Situations

TapTechNews Jun 15 - In the iOS18 system, Apple has added a real-time video feature for iPhone users who encounter emergencies to provide more information and background context to emergency responders.

The addition of a real-time video feature in the Emergency SOS of Apple's iOS18 system means that once users enable the SOS function, they can send it to emergency responders by recording videos or video-calling.

Emergency dispatchers can also send requests to ask users to share real-time videos or videos in the camera. Apple says this will make it easier and faster for users to get help.

Videos are sent to emergency dispatchers via a secure connection. This option allows people in emergency situations to send critical information for locating, assessing injuries or risks, or serving as evidence in the future.

TapTechNews note: Emergency SOS is a feature on the iPhone and Apple Watch that can automatically dial the local emergency number and share the location information with the emergency service department. It is the backbone of functions such as crash detection, fall detection, and emergency calls via satellite.
