China Eastern Airlines' C919 Starts Fourth Commercial Route

TapTechNews June 14th news, according to the official news of China Eastern Airlines, the C919 passenger jet with aircraft number B-919A, the world's first C919 passenger jet of China Eastern Airlines, carried out MU5309 flight today, indicating the official start of the operation of the fourth commercial regular route.

At 9:37 am on June 14th, MU5309 flight carried 162 passengers from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport at 11:30 am on the same day, receiving the welcome of the highest civil aviation etiquette 'Water Gate Ceremony'.

China Eastern Airlines said that the 'Shanghai - Guangzhou' route is an important 'boutique express line' of China Eastern Airlines, and the flight volume of China Eastern Airlines on this route reaches 36 flights per day (round trip). China Eastern Airlines is currently the only airline operating the domestic large aircraft C919, and the C919 fleet has reached 6 aircraft. This aircraft has already flown Shanghai Hongqiao - Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Hongqiao - Chengdu Tianfu, and Shanghai Hongqiao - Xi'an Xianyang routes.

TapTechNews reported earlier that China Eastern Airlines signed the 'C919 Aircraft Purchase Agreement' with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China on September 28, 2023, purchasing 100 C919 aircraft from the manufacturer. The above 100 aircraft are planned to be delivered in batches to the company from 2024 to 2031.

Among them, 5 aircraft are planned to be delivered in 2024, 10 aircraft are planned to be delivered each year from 2025 to 2027, 15 aircraft are planned to be delivered each year from 2028 to 2030, and 20 aircraft are planned to be delivered in 2031.
