Tencent Releases无障碍 Version of Movie in Cooperation with Multiple Parties

TapTechNews July 13th news, Tencent's official public account released an article today stating that under the guidance of the China Association of the Blind, the无障碍 version of the movie Catch the Doll jointly produced by Tencent, the China Braille Library, and the Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Industry Association was simultaneously released today.

It is introduced that the film will be screened in 74 cinemas in multiple cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Suzhou, Chongqing, and Chengdu that can provide barrier-free viewing services. People with visual impairments only need to purchase tickets normally (choose the theater with the symbol of the beloved theater or the barrier-free theater) and can go to watch the movie.

The cinemas that can provide the above services provide special headphones for people with visual impairments. During the screening of the film, there will be a synchronous playback of narration in the headphones. Such films require a special narrator to narrate the film's story environment, the limbs and expressions of the characters, etc. at the blank spaces of the film (without lines or sounds) so that people with visual impairments can understand the movie.

However, due to a series of reasons such as production and copyright, there are problems with few films and being outdated for such barrier-free version movies.

According to a previous report by TapTechNews, Tencent announced in May that it would jointly launch the Tencent Video Barrier-Free Theater with the China Braille Library. People with visual impairments will be able to realize online barrier-free viewing through this platform. This platform will successively launch more than 600 high-quality and popular film and television works such as Three-Body Problem, covering movies, TV dramas, children's animations, and subsequent content will also include variety shows, etc.
