Pony.ai's Progress in Intelligent Driving and Future Plans

TapTechNews August 24th news, Pony.ai announced on May 21 this year that it obtained the first intelligent connected vehicle high-speed and expressway test permit in Guangzhou, and one model each of its self-driving taxis and self-driving trucks was selected.

This Wednesday, Peng Jun, the co-founder and CEO of Pony.ai, said in an interview with the Southern Finance Omnimedia Group that its Robotaxi has covered the entire 803 square kilometers in Nansha and has accumulated more than 36 million kilometers of autonomous driving road test mileage and 4 million kilometers of unmanned test mileage. He believes that currently, the safety of the virtual driver has reached more than 10 times that of human drivers.

He also said that intelligent driving has reached the eve of large-scale commercialization, and the Nansha experience will be replicated across the country.

In terms of commercial use, Peng Jun said that Pony.ai has been operating in many cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. It has deployed more than 100 Robotaxis in Guangzhou. Judging from the actual operation, this number still cannot meet the needs of users at present, and currently each vehicle has an average of about 15 orders per day.

TapTechNews note: Pony.ai mainly has three major business lines: self-driving travel service (Robotaxi), self-driving freight truck (Robotruck), and passenger car intelligent driving business (POV).

Regarding the IPO process, Peng Jun said that financing is a win-win with the capital market. Pony.ai has currently obtained some approvals and procedures, and the entire process is also related to the capital environment.
