Apple launched its self-service repair service in April 2022, providing the same repair manuals, Apple genuine parts, and tools as Apple Store retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers to all those who have relevant experience in repairing electronic devices.

The self-service repair service supports 42 types of Apple devices and now includes MacBook Air models with the M3 chip. Next year, Canada will become the 34th country to support Apple's self-service repair service.

Apple also launched a self-service repair diagnostic tool in the US in December 2023, providing users with the same support as Apple Authorized Service Providers and independent repair service providers to test equipment parts to achieve an ideal state of function and performance and determine which parts may require repair.

Apple stated that through the diagnostic tool, it is committed to extending the lifespan of Apple products and providing users with safe and affordable repair options.

TapTechNews reported last night that Apple also released a white paper, outlining the company's policies on device repairability and durability. Apple disclosed in it that iPhone will better support third-party displays and batteries later in 2024.
