Apple Announces Update to Runtime Protection in macOS 15 Sequoia

TapTechNews August 7th news, Apple yesterday (August 6th) released a security announcement, announcing that macOS 15 Sequoia will update the runtime protection function, meaning that it is difficult for users to bypass Gatekeeper Security to install Mac applications.

TapTechNews attached the following content of Apple's official update log:

In macOS Sequoia, when users open software that is not properly signed or notarized, they will no longer be able to hold down the Control key and click to ignore the 'Gatekeeper'.

Before allowing the software to run, users need to access 'System Settings' > 'Privacy and Security' to review the security information of the software.

If you distribute software outside the Mac App Store, we recommend that you submit the software for notarization. The Apple Notarization Service will automatically scan the software signed with Developer ID and conduct a security check.

When your software is available for distribution, it will be assigned a credential so that the 'Gatekeeper' knows that it has been notarized and customers can run it with confidence.

The Gatekeeper ensures that the Mac only runs 'trusted' software to protect users from malicious software, viruses and other security risks. The Gatekeeper conducts checks to ensure that the software comes from a confirmed developer and does not contain malicious content.
