IBM to Transfer R & D Work from China Systems Laboratory, Over 1000 Employees Affected

TapTechNews August 26th news, according to Interface News, Jack Hergenrother, vice president of IBM's global enterprise systems development department, announced at the all-staff meeting of the IBM China Systems Laboratory (CSL) this morning that IBM infrastructure has decided to transfer the R & D work of the China Systems Laboratory to other overseas IBM infrastructure bases, and is currently withdrawing all R & D work in China.

It is understood that IBM China has multiple branches. This adjustment belongs to the IBM China Systems Center under IBMV, which is mainly responsible for R & D and testing. Employees are distributed in many cities across the country such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Dalian, involving about more than a thousand people.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the news said that IBM will provide N+3 compensation for relevant employees. When responding to the news of layoffs in the R & D department, IBM China said: IBM will adjust its operations as needed to provide the best service to customers, and these changes will not affect our ability to provide support to customers in the Greater China region.

Employees of the IBM China Systems Center disclosed that currently the person in charge of the IBM China Systems Center is communicating with the IBM headquarters management about layoffs and compensation matters. Employees of the IBM China Systems Center have put forward some demands regarding layoffs and compensation, including 2N compensation (N and the monthly salary benchmark have no cap) and 6-month grace period, cash realization of annual leave, unused paid family leave, etc., and cash realization of stocks, etc.
