Volkswagen to Recall 771 Lamborghini Urus Vehicles

TapTechNews June 28 - Recently, Volkswagen Group China Sales Co., Ltd. (VGC) filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with theAdministrative Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementing Measures of the Administrative Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products.

Volkswagen has decided to recall a total of 771certain imported 2023-2024MY Lamborghini Urus series vehicles produced from October 7, 2022, to February 2, 2024, starting from July 18, 2024.

TapTechNews has learned that for some vehicles within the recall range, due to insufficient strength of the fixed rivets of the engine hood, when the vehicle is driving at high speed (greater than 93.2mph), a gap may occur between the engine hood and the body. In extreme cases, it may lead to the failure of the engine hood locking system, and the engine hood may open unexpectedly during driving, interfering with the driver's field of vision and posing a safety hazard.

The Lamborghini brand of Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will, through authorized dealers, freely check the riveting condition of the fixed rivets of the engine hood for vehicles within the recall range and re-apply riveting or install reinforcing brackets if necessary to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Emergency handling measures: It is recommended that relevant users control the driving speed below 93.2mph before the recall repair.
