In recent years, TSMC has built wafer factories in three places: Arizona in the United States, Kumamoto in Japan, and Dresden in Germany. Among them, the Arizona plant in the United States focuses on advanced processes, while the subsidiaries in Kumamoto, Japan and Dresden, Germany mainly focus on mature processes.

The TSMC Arizona Fab21 in the United States adopts a 4nm process and is targeted to start mass production in 2025. On the 17th of this month, there was news that it has started trial production of Apple's A16 SoC in the N4P process.

The first factory (TapTechNews note: Fab23) of JASM, a joint venture between TSMC and local Japanese manufacturers, opened on February 24 and can provide 12/16nm FinFET and 22/28nm planar CMOS foundry services, and the second phase will expand to 6/7nm and 40nm.

And ESMC, a joint venture between TSMC and European semiconductor companies, held a groundbreaking ceremony on August 20 this year and is targeted to start mass production in 2027, also focusing on 12/16nm FinFET and 22/28nm planar CMOS.
