Reuters Institute Releases Annual Digital News Report

This annual report surveyed nearly 100,000 people in 47 countries or regions and concluded that consumers are skeptical about news content produced using AI.

According to the survey results, 52% of US respondents and 63% of UK respondents are uneasy about news mainly generated by AI. The report surveyed 2,000 people on average in each country and region, and it noted that respondents are more willing to accept AI behind the scenes to improve the efficiency of journalists' work.

In addition, the concern about false news content on the internet has also increased by 3 percentage points compared to last year. This year, 59% of respondents said they are worried about it.

Nick Newman, a senior researcher at the Reuters Institute and a lead author of the Digital News Report, said, The high degree of skepticism towards AI is astonishing, and there will be widespread concerns about the impact (of AI) on content reliability and trustworthiness.
