Ubisoft Cancels Development of 'Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland'

TapTechNews reported on May 16 that Ubisoft announced in its latest financial report that the company has canceled the development of the free multiplayer survival action game 'Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland' developed by Red Storm Entertainment.

Ubisoft stated that as part of the company's efforts to streamline operations and adapt to changing market trends, the global publishing team in the Asia-Pacific region has been further restructured. In order to increase investment selectivity, Ubisoft has decided to halt the development of 'Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland' and redeploy resources to more likely successful projects.

It is reported that Ubisoft has canceled many games in the past few months to try to 'reduce costs and increase efficiency.' The company has also cut more than 1,700 employees within 18 months, and as of the end of March 2024, the company has 19,011 employees.

Ubisoft stated that they plan to focus on 'open-world renowned IP games (such as Assassin's Creed)' and 'real-time service games (such as XDefiant and Rainbow Six).' In the future, we may see more works like 'The Crew' and 'Far Cry'.
