OLED Smartphones' Shipments and Revenue to See Growth in 2024

TapTechNews July 18th news, according to DSCC's Advanced Smartphone Display Shipments and Technology Report, in the first quarter of 2024, the shipments and revenues of OLED smartphones increased by 50% and 3% respectively compared to the same period in 2023.

It is expected that in the first half of 2024, the shipments of OLED smartphones will increase by 43% year-on-year, and the revenue will increase by 7% year-on-year.

It is expected that for the whole year of 2024, the shipments of OLED smartphones will increase by 21% year-on-year, and the panel revenue will increase by 3%. Among them, the shipments of flexible OLED will increase by 13% year-on-year, the shipments of foldable OLED will increase by 26% year-on-year, and the shipments of rigid OLED will increase by 46% year-on-year.

The report predicts that the shipment growth of OLED smartphones in 2024 will reach double digits. The latest economic indicators show that the inflation environment is stabilizing, and there are indications that artificial intelligence and new models of companies such as Samsung and Apple will strongly drive this growth trend and form a super cycle.

TapTechNews learned from the report that DSCC expects Apple to take the lead in 2024, with the shipment share and the share of revenue from smartphone devices being 29% and 50%, respectively, lower than 36% and 52% in 2023, which is due to the increase in the share of brands such as Honor, Huawei, OPPO, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi.
