Tech media MacRumors published a blog post today, stating that the new iPads come pre-installed with a special iPadOS 17.4 update. However, users can immediately upgrade to iPadOS 17.5 update after booting up.

The new iPad Pro with M4 chip is equipped with Adaptive True Tone flash, which improves document scanning effects. It is currently unclear whether this feature requires iPadOS 17.5 or if the update only further optimizes the feature.
Apple says that with Adaptive True Tone flash and AI, the new iPad Pro can eliminate shadows on scanned documents.
