Apple Launches 2024 iPad Air and iPad Pro with Special iPadOS Update

TapTechNews May 15 news, Apple officially launched the 2024 iPad Air and iPad Pro today, with a starting price of 4799 yuan (approximately $750). Tech media MacRumors published a blog post today, stating that the new iPads come pre-installed with a special iPadOS 17.4 update. However, users can immediately upgrade to iPadOS 17.5 update after booting up.

Users can see the available iPadOS 17.5 update (internal version 21F84) in the Settings app on the new iPad Air and iPad Pro. TapTechNews translated some of the update log content as follows:

Apple News+

The offline mode of Apple News+ allows you to access Today feed and News+ tags without network connection.

Quartiles is a new original daily text game now available on Apple News+.

The scoreboard in Puzzles allows you to access new player data for crosswords, mini crosswords, and calculations, including statistics and winning streak records.

Tracking Notifications

The cross-platform tracking detection feature alerts users when a non-owner Bluetooth tracker is detected moving with the owner, regardless of the paired operating system.

Document Scanning

Improved document scanning feature on the new iPad Air and iPad Pro.

The new iPad Pro with M4 chip is equipped with Adaptive True Tone flash, which improves document scanning effects. It is currently unclear whether this feature requires iPadOS 17.5 or if the update only further optimizes the feature.

Apple says that with Adaptive True Tone flash and AI, the new iPad Pro can eliminate shadows on scanned documents.
