There is an obvious benefit of battery swapping, which is to enjoy the dividend brought by battery technology upgrade. For example, for users who bought the NIO founding version ES8 six years ago with a 70-kilowatt-hour battery and a range of more than 350 kilometers (about 217 miles), now they can rent a 150-kilowatt-hour battery by the day, and the range becomes more than 700 kilometers (about 435 miles). This is the dividend brought by battery upgrade, and only the swappable car models can enjoy the experience upgrade brought by battery upgrade so smoothly.

For the question of Is the second-generation station capable of upgrading to add Ledo's battery as well? Will different types of batteries in the future lead to low swapping efficiency?, the official replied:

Not for now. Because there are 13 battery compartments in the second-generation station. If several NIO batteries are removed and Ledo's battery is added, the queuing will be extremely serious. If the user demand is relatively concentrated, we will build a fourth-generation station around.

More than 1,000 of NIO's renovated third-generation stations and newly-built fourth-generation stations will support Ledo users by the end of the year. Currently, NIO's third-generation swapping station is equipped with 21 battery compartments, and the fourth-generation swapping station is equipped with 23 battery compartments. If Ledo's battery is put in, the user experience of Ledo users is also good, and the user experience of NIO users will not be affected much either.

In the swapping station, NIO mainly uses 75-kilowatt-hour and 100-kilowatt-hour batteries, and Ledo mainly uses 60-kilowatt-hour and 85-kilowatt-hour batteries. The main ones are these four types of batteries. Now all our newly-built stations are fourth-generation stations, and there are 23 battery compartments inside. It is not much different to put four types of batteries in circulation than to put two types. According to the order of arrival and reservation, everyone queues up to swap, and at the same time, the ratio of the four types of batteries will be flexibly adjusted according to the average queuing time in the cloud data to ensure everyone's swapping demand.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, on September 24th, NIO announced the adjustment of the charging mode of swapping service fee from the fixed price mode to the charged by degree mode. The specific adjustments are as follows:

The original mode: The single swapping cost = fixed service fee (30/50 yuan) + electricity tariff * swapped electricity amount

The current mode: The single swapping cost = (electricity cost + service fee) * swapped electricity amount

When the swapped electricity amount does not reach the set minimum swapped electricity amount (20 kilowatt-hours), the corresponding service fee will be charged according to the minimum swapped electricity amount, and the electricity cost will be calculated according to the actual swapped electricity amount.
