Alphabet in Talks to Acquire Wiz for $23 Billion

TapTechNews July 15th news, Reuters reported that Google's parent company, Alphabet, is in deep negotiations to acquire the cybersecurity startup Wiz for approximately $23 billion (TapTechNews note: currently about 167.49 billion yuan). This deal would be the largest acquisition ever made by this tech giant.

The Wiz company was founded in Israel and its headquarters is now located in New York. It has 900 employees in the United States, Europe, and Asia and is one of the fastest-growing startup software companies globally. It provides cloud-based cybersecurity solutions and uses artificial intelligence for real-time threat detection and response, collaborating with multiple cloud service providers such as Microsoft and Amazon.

According to the Wiz company's official website, the company generated approximately $350 million (currently about 2.549 billion yuan) in revenue in 2023 and cooperated with 40% of the Fortune 100 companies. Wiz raised $1 billion in the latest round of private financing, and the company's valuation reached $12 billion (currently about 8.7386 billion yuan).

In recent years, US regulatory agencies have opposed large tech companies from becoming even larger through acquisitions. In the case of strict government regulation of this industry, it is very rare for Alphabet to advance this deal. Insiders disclosed that this deal may be reached soon.
