TapTechNews noticed that the native Android system has been displaying single-color application icons on the status bar for years to indicate new notifications from applications. According to AndroidAuthority, two new flag bits appeared in the source code of Android 15 to control the display mode of application icons in the notification bar, and one of the flag bits allows the use of the full-color icon displayed in the Play Store, home screen or app drawer. The full-color icon makes it easier to identify applications, and the operating system can also apply this change to the application icons on the AOD screen.
