TapTechNews May 17th news, a video went viral on May 15th showing that an owner of IM智己 LS6 tried to park the vehicle into the parking space using the automatic parking function after arriving at the parking lot. However, during the reverse process of the vehicle to the parking space, the front of the passenger side collided with the pillar in the parking lot. Neither the parking system nor the owner noticed the abnormality, and the vehicle continued to reverse. Eventually, the car successfully parked in the parking space, but the front bumper was completely damaged.

Subsequently, the official Weibo of IM智己 Automobile released a statement regarding this accident, stating that they have negotiated a handling plan with the user, and will continue to optimize the ability of the automatic parking to deal with weak scenarios in the future, and implement it through OTA upgrade push. In addition, on the same day, Wang Kang, the director of the autonomous driving project of IM智己 Automobile, also posted that after the team received the accident of LS6 APA automatic parking scratching the I-shaped metal column, they immediately started a high-priority case analysis, and the after-sales department has contacted the user and actively negotiated a handling plan.

Two days later, Wang Kang responded again regarding this matter and reported the latest progress, stating that the intelligent driving team of IM智己 went to the site on May 16th for APA parking retest. The APA parking trajectory with the optimized software was good, and the perception and detection of the I-shaped metal column were stable. When the system judged that it was close to the column, it timely carried out collision avoidance braking and path re-planning. After more than 60 on-site tests, IM智己 LS6 completed obstacle avoidance and parking入库.

Wang Kang also said that the optimization of this parking function has basically met the expected requirements, and will be carried in the IMOS2.8.0 system in the future and pushed to users together with other optimized contents.
