XPeng CEO Tests Tesla's FSD in US, Musk Comments on Chinese Automakers

He believes that Tesla has a very good autonomous driving technology and brand. It is worth noting that Lu Sen, the director of the Data Department of the Lingang New Area Administrative Committee in Shanghai, also revealed last week that Nanhui New City is promoting the landing pilot of 10 Tesla vehicles for fully autonomous driving (FSD). This means that Tesla's FSD is striving to enter the domestic market.
Although Tesla's FSD has not been pushed in the Chinese market yet, it has been sold with the car since the release of Model 3, with a domestic price of $10,000 (TapTechNews note: currently about 69,000 RMB). And later, a subscription system may also be launched, and the price may be around $150 per month (TapTechNews note: currently about 1,000 RMB).
Reuters also said at the end of May that Tesla China is preparing to file its FSD function with the relevant authorities in order to push this function this year. Tesla is striving to introduce FSD V12 into China, and relevant words have appeared in the vehicle-mounted system of Tesla China employees last month.
Tesla is also considering authorizing FSD to other Chinese automakers. The sale of FSD in China will open up a new source of revenue for Tesla. Due to the competition of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, Tesla's sales in China decreased by 7.6% from January to April in 2024.
On April 28, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Handling and Coordination Center released the 'Notification on the Detection Situation of Four Safety Requirements for Automobile Data Processing (First Batch)', which mentioned that all the models produced by Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory meet the compliance requirements and is the only foreign-funded enterprise that meets the compliance requirements.
