This new standard will replace text messaging and become the default protocol for communication between Android and iPhone devices. However, as previously disclosed by the official, supporting RCS does not mean the end of the blue-green bubble problem, and RCS messages will still show in green.

In fact, Apple didn't talk about all this, but only mentioned RCS support in a slide about iOS 18

TapTechNews note: iMessage will continue to be the default way of iPhone-to-iPhone communication, and RCS will replace the existing SMS and MMS standards. However, text messaging and MMS can still be used as alternative options when necessary.

RCS is the next-generation international standard for messaging services. The new-generation information service platform built by telecom operators based on this can make information is the platform, users are the customers, and mobile phones are the applications a reality.

With the native SMS keypad on smartphones as the entry point, 5G messaging supports users to use a variety of rich media messages such as pictures, audio and video, group chat, file transfer, and content sharing during a call. In the message window, one-stop business experiences such as search, interaction, sharing, and payment can be achieved.

For those of us who are used to using WeChat, the green chat bubble has long been the default choice. But in the United States, where iMessage is popularly used, the color of the chat bubble has become one of the sources of people's anxiety.

Put simply, on Apple devices, a blue chat bubble in the message indicates that both parties are using Apple devices, while a green chat bubble indicates that the other party is using a non-Apple device - most likely an Android phone. A green bubble means that you can't use the rich variety of features in iPhone messaging with the other person, and even sharing high-definition pictures and participating in group chat are problematic.
