Huawei and China Unicom's 5G-A Advancements

TapTechNews May 17th news, at the 2024 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Conference, Cao Ming, President of Huawei's Wireless Network Product Line, said that 5G-A is the solid foundation of the new-quality productive forces of the digital economy.

Cao Ming stated that 5G-A stimulates new-quality productive forces and is expected to pry open a trillion-dollar growth new space, such as promoting thousands of AI/XR new applications, trillion-dollar intelligent connected vehicles, and the upgrading of smart factories, as well as the exploration of new industries such as low-altitude economy and wide-area passive Internet of Things. To meet the continuous upgrading of mobile services, it is necessary to build a high-quality 5G-A network. Through fully utilizing large bandwidth resources, China has the conditions to build the best 5G-A network in the world, achieving an experience of 5 to 10 Gbps downstream and 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps upstream, and providing capabilities such as low latency and deterministic experience to meet the needs of diverse application scenarios.

Also today, China Unicom Research Institute announced that it has successfully completed the first 5G-A outdoor large-scale networking verification with Huawei in Pudong Jinqiao. The test results show that after the three-carrier aggregation + 1024QAM function is enabled, the downstream test rate can reach 4.6 Gbps.

In April this year, Gao Zhiguo, President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, said that Huawei, in collaboration with Zhejiang Mobile, has completed the pre-commercial deployment of the world's first 5G-A (5.5G) core network intelligent differentiated experience guarantee scheme.
