Foreign media UploadVR contacted Microsoft to confirm that the Windows Mixed Reality Portal (WindowsMixedReality) application does not work in this system version, which means that if users have a VR headset (such as Acer AH101, ASUS HC102, Dell Visor, HP VR1000, Lenovo Explorer, Samsung Odyssey, etc.) that depends on Microsoft's WMR software to run, then Windows 11 24H2 should not be updated.

Microsoft once pinned its hopes on Windows Mixed Reality. In 2017, the company tried to seamlessly merge virtual reality and augmented reality into one. Despite its grand blueprint, the market did not buy it. Due to the sluggish sales of related MR hardware and the lack of software content, in 2023, Microsoft had to admit the failure of this platform.

Referring to TapTechNews' report last year, Microsoft dissolved the WindowsMixedReality, AltspaceVR, and MRTK teams at the beginning of last year, stopped the operation of AltspaceVR and the development of MRTK; at the end of last year, Microsoft removed the Windows Mixed Reality Portal application from the Windows system itself and the Microsoft Store.
