Samsung Develops 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM and Its Applications

TapTechNews July 16th news, in April this year, Samsung announced that it has developed its first 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM memory and plans to start mass production in the second half of the year, while the current highest rate of LPDDR5X DRAM memory of other manufacturers is 9.6 Gbps.

Samsung Electronics just announced that it has successfully completed the verification of the industry's fastest 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM solution, which can be used for MediaTek's next-generation Dimensity 9400 flagship platform to be launched in the second half of this year.

According to the introduction, the 16GB LPDDR5X memory package used in this verification has reached a speed of 10.7 Gbps. Compared with the previous generation product, the power consumption is reduced by more than 25%, while the performance is also improved, which will bring longer battery life to mobile devices and further strengthen the local AI performance, thereby accelerating the computing speed of AI functions such as speech-to-text without the need for server or cloud access.

Samsung said that this 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X memory is based on 12nm-class process technology, with the performance increased by more than 25% and the capacity increased by more than 30% compared to the previous generation product. TapTechNews noted that the memory also expands the single-package capacity of mobile DRAM to 32GB to meet the demand for high-performance and large-capacity memory in edge-side AI applications.
