Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center and Huawei Release ChatZOC Ophthalmology Large Model

TapTechNews learned from the official subscription account of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center that on June 6th (the 29th National Eye-Care Day), the ChatZOC ophthalmology large model jointly built by Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. was officially released.

It is reported that Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University is the largest public ophthalmic hospital in China, and it is the only ophthalmic specialist hospital directly managed by the National Health Commission.

In March 2023, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University took the lead in initiating the domestic research and development of the ChatZOC ophthalmology large model. In December of the same year, it started the joint research and development with Huawei.

The ChatZOC ophthalmology large model is based on the ophthalmic disease diagnosis and treatment knowledge base, linked to the big data platform of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, combined with the latest ophthalmic guidelines and literature, and trained relying on Huawei's basic AI computing framework, reaching the international advanced level in ophthalmic field tasks.

In January 2024, ChatZOC completed the local model deployment and can provide all-weather eye health consultation services. After testing, under the same manpower, the patient service efficiency increased by 75% in the ChatZOC-assisted mode; medical students can simulate doctor-patient questions and answers by interacting with ChatZOC.
