According to TapTechNews, Cathay Pacific released a notice on the evening of September 2. The CX383 flight to Zurich that day returned to Hong Kong. After inspecting the Airbus A350 aircraft, it was found that there was a malfunction in the engine parts. This engine parts malfunction of the A350 aircraft is the first case in the world.

Preliminary reports showed that when inspected afterwards, it was found that the steel braided sheath of the secondary fuel manifold Hose connected to the No. 17 fuel nozzle in the No. 2 engine had a rupture, and there was an obvious hole on the hose. In addition, black soot was also observed in the rear core compartment of the engine, indicating signs of a fire alarm. Burn marks were also found at the bottom of the two thrust reverser fairings.

In addition to the abnormal situation of the No. 17 secondary fuel manifold hose, the civil aviation accident investigation agency also found that there were cases of metal braid wear or internal structure collapse in the other five secondary fuel manifold hoses.

Subsequent inspections showed that the fuel flowing to the fuel nozzles may have leaked through the ruptured secondary fuel manifold hose. Coupled with other contributing factors such as the presence of oxygen and a heat source, this may lead to the spread of the fire to nearby areas. If not discovered and handled in time, this situation and its further malfunctions may escalate to a more serious engine fire, causing extensive damage to the aircraft.
