A Passenger Caught Smuggling 121 Mobile Phones in Modified Electric Wheelchair

At about 5 p.m. that day, a Macau man named Chen was intercepted by the on-site customs officers when he entered the country through the customs no declaration channel in the passenger inspection hall of Gongbei Port by electric wheelchair. The customs officers noticed that there were modified marks on the electric wheelchair he was riding, and judged that there was a risk of smuggling by hiding. Later, the wheelchair was inspected by the machine, and the image showed abnormality. After further disassembling, a large number of neatly stacked used mobile phones wrapped in plastic film were found in the battery box of the wheelchair. A total of 121 units were counted.

The customs reminds: According to the relevant regulations, transporting, carrying, or mailing goods or items that are prohibited or restricted from entering or leaving the country by the state or goods or items for which taxes should be paid according to law in or out of the country by hiding, disguising, concealing the report, false reporting, or other means to avoid customs supervision is smuggling behavior.
